\nEmployees of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University Peshawar on Tuesday urged the provincial government and higher education authorities to take notice of long-delayed promotions and alleged administrative irregularities, saying they have been deprived of career advancement for the past 18 years.
\nSpeaking at a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club (PPC), Senior Professor Sumira Tariq, along with other employees, said promotion cases of eligible staff were being withheld and neither forwarded to the relevant commission nor the provincial government.
\nShe alleged that the university administration and vice chancellor were \u201csuppressing complete promotion files\u201d and introducing new internal regulations without consulting employees, which she claimed were later being used against staff members.
\nProf Sumira Tariq said the institution was quick in recruitment processes but \u201ccompletely inactive\u201d when it came to promotions, adding that this reflected the administration\u2019s intent regarding employees\u2019 professional rights. She demanded access to promotion-related drafts to address reservations and ensure transparency, stating that promotion was a constitutional right that could not be denied.
\nThe professor further said staff were not being granted access to the provincial higher education minister to present their concerns, and urged Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi, the higher education minister and relevant officials to take immediate notice of the issue.
\nMeanwhile, employees of the university continued their protest on campus against the delay in promotions, which they say has persisted for nearly two decades.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
