PESHAWAR
\nMembers of the All Primary Teachers Association Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday staged a protest outside the Peshawar Press Club (PST), demanding resolution of longstanding issues related to upgradation, regularisation and education policies.
\nA large number of teachers participated in the demonstration, which was led by the association\u2019s provincial president Azizullah Khan and other office-bearers. The protesters carried placards and banners highlighting their demands.
\nAddressing the gathering, the teachers said their issues had remained unresolved for years despite repeated protests and negotiations with the government. They expressed concern that the upgradation notification approved by the previous provincial cabinet had yet to be issued.
\nThe protesters also opposed the outsourcing of primary schools and called for the regularisation of teachers, along with other administrative reforms. They demanded that the number of textbooks for primary students be reduced to four to ease the burden on children.
\nReferring to the Regularisation Act 2022, the teachers said that employees regularised under the law should be granted entitlement to the GP Fund. They also urged authorities to regularise those teachers who had been left out due to administrative negligence and include them under the same law.
\nThe association further demanded immediate approval of SPST posts in the merged districts.
