\nUS President Donald Trump said on Friday the US Navy was acting \u201clike pirates\u201d in carrying out Washington\u2019s naval blockade \u200bof Iranian ports during the US and Israel\u2019s war against Iran.
\nTrump \u200cmade the comments while describing the seizure by US forces of a ship a few days ago.
\n\u201cWe took over the ship, we took over \u200bthe cargo, we took over the oil. It\u2019s a very \u200bprofitable business,\u201d Trump said in remarks on Friday evening. \u201cWe\u2019re like pirates. We\u2019re sort of like pirates, but we are not \u200bplaying games.\u201d
\nSome of Tehran\u2019s vessels have been seized by the US after leaving \u200bIranian ports, along with sanctioned container ships and Iranian tankers in Asian waters.
\nIran has blocked nearly all ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz apart from its \u200bown since the start of the war. Trump has imposed \u200ba separate blockade of Iranian ports.
