\nContract employees of the Lady Health Workers (LHW) Programme on Monday called off their protest after successful negotiation with the provincial government, which assured immediate payment of pending salaries.
\nThe breakthrough came after Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Information and Public Relations Shafi Jan held talks with a representative delegation of protesting employees in Peshawar on the directives of Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi.
\nDuring the meeting, issues faced by the workers, particularly delays in salary payments, were discussed in detail. The government assured the delegation that concrete steps were being taken to address their concerns.
\nLater, while addressing the protesters at Assembly Chowk, Mr Jan announced that two months\u2019 pending salaries of contract employees under the LHW Programme would be released within two days. He added that salaries for an additional four months would also be paid soon.
\nHe further said that a special committee would be constituted to comprehensively review all demands of the employees and propose long-term solutions.
\nMr Jan said the provincial government, in line with the vision of PTI\u2019s founding chairman Imran Khan, was prioritising public welfare and addressing challenges faced by both citizens and government employees.
\nHe reiterated that the government was committed to ensuring a better and safer working environment for Lady Health Workers, adding that the health sector remained among its top priorities.
\nAppreciating the services of LHWs, he said they were providing essential healthcare services under difficult field conditions, and their dedication and commitment were commendable.
