\nPESHAWAR
\nSpecial Assistant to the Chief Minister on Information and Public Relations Shafi Jan on Saturday strongly criticised the federal government over the recent increase in petrol and diesel prices, terming the move \u201cfurther economic oppression\u201d of the public.
\nIn a statement, he said the rise in petroleum prices reflected the policies of what he called the \u201cForm-47 federal government\u201d, alleging that it lacked a genuine public mandate and was burdening citizens through continuous inflation.
\nMr Jan said the policies of the federal government\u2019s \u201cexperienced economic team\u201d had pushed the country\u2019s economy to the brink of destruction. He claimed that despite a decline in global petroleum prices, the government had imposed an additional financial burden on the public instead of providing relief.
\nHe alleged that the federal government was collecting between Rs130 billion and Rs150bn every month through petroleum levies while people were already struggling with inflation, unemployment, electricity and gas shortages, and worsening economic conditions.
\n\u201cThe flawed economic policies of the Form-47 government have left the public at the mercy of darkness and gas shortages,\u201d he said, adding that the federal government had failed to address issues faced by ordinary citizens.
\nThe special assistant said inflation was increasing with each passing day and accused the federal government of failing to provide meaningful relief to the people.
\nHighlighting the provincial government\u2019s measures, Mr Jan said the provincial government led by PTI, despite limited resources, was taking practical steps to support citizens through welfare initiatives, including the Ehsaas Fuel Support Scheme.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
