Federal Minister for Health Syed Mustafa Kamal chaired an important meeting at the Ministry of Health to review a comprehensive study aimed at improving the capacity and upgrading healthcare facilities at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) and Polyclinic.
\nAccording to the Ministry on Monday, Heads of both hospitals attended the meeting, while consultants gave a detailed briefing on the proposed upgradation plans and future healthcare infrastructure requirements for the federal capital.
\nSpeaking on the occasion, the minister said the government was committed to transforming Islamabad into a model city in the health sector by ensuring the provision of state-of-the-art medical facilities.
\nHe noted that, in addition to the growing population of Islamabad, a large number of patients from Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and other remote areas travel to the capital for treatment, making it essential to strengthen the healthcare system infrastructure
\nin line with future needs.
\nMustafa Kamal emphasized that comprehensive planning should be undertaken to meet healthcare demands for the next two decades.
\nHe said a long-term healthcare infrastructure plan for major hospitals in Islamabad was being formulated to make the system more effective and sustainable in view of future challenges.
\nThe minister directed that all departments at PIMS and Polyclinic, including patient care, sanitation systems and infection control mechanisms, be upgraded according to international standards.
\nHe further instructed that efforts should be made to obtain Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation in phases to align the hospitals with globally recognized healthcare benchmarks.
\n\u201cPIMS hospital will be brought at par with international standards by securing JCI accreditation within two years,\u201d he said.
\nThe minister also directed the relevant teams and consultants to prepare a comprehensive and practical plan and submit detailed recommendations within three weeks so that an effective and sustainable strategy could be finalized for the future.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
