Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry on Tuesday informed the Senate that action had been taken against over 200 officials of the Federal Investigation Agency for misuse of authority in immigration matters.
\nReplying to various supplementary questions during the Question Hour, the minister said some FIA officials were also dismissed from service after the allegations against them were proven.
\nHe said the Directorate of Internal Accountability (DIA) of the FIA had been tasked with strengthening internal oversight, protecting institutional integrity, and implementing accountability mechanisms within the agency.
\nDr Tariq Fazal said strict accountability measures were in place to take action against immigration officials involved in unjustified offloading of passengers or collusion with human smugglers.
\nHe said that in 2025, the FIA Director General penalized 85 officials for misuse of authority in immigration-related matters.
\nThe minister clarified that offloading was never random or arbitrary, but carried out strictly under established procedures. Passengers were offloaded only when serious concerns remained after a detailed review, he said.
\nHe said a mechanism had been developed at the Integrated Control, Complaints and Communications Centre to immediately forward complaints received through email, round the clock, to the relevant immigration check posts for swift resolution.
\nThe minister said overseas Pakistanis were a major source of remittances and the government had taken several steps to facilitate them. He said that independent courts had also been set up for overseas Pakistanis for speedy resolution of their grievances.
\nHe also rejected reports circulating on social media claiming that Pakistanis were being deported from Gulf countries, particularly the United Arab Emirates. He said no Pakistani was deported without reason.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
