\nThe Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) has approved 21 development projects worth over Rs 34 billion aimed at improving infrastructure, public services, and social sector facilities across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
\nThe approvals were made during the 20th PDWP meeting held under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development Department, Mr. Islam Zeb, a handout said. The meeting was attended by PDWP members and senior officials of relevant departments.
\nAccording to details, the approved projects span key sectors including local government, education, health, revenue, and forestry. These include initiatives for infrastructure development, feasibility studies, rehabilitation works, and the upgradation of public service delivery systems.
\nAmong major decisions, two projects worth over Rs 8 billion were approved under the Peshawar Revitalization Plan for the upgradation and improvement of 16 major highways in the city. Officials said the projects were aimed at easing traffic flow and providing safer, more efficient travel facilities in line with modern urban requirements.
\nThe forum also approved a significant health sector initiative to provide dialysis services in seven District Headquarters (DHQ) hospitals in the merged districts. These include hospitals in Khar Bajaur, Miranshah North Waziristan, Ghalnai Mohmand, Parachinar Kurram Upper, Wana South Waziristan, Landi Kotal Khyber, and Masti Mela Orakzai.
\nOther approved projects include the construction of district headquarters buildings in Upper Chitral and Kolai Palas Kohistan, establishment of a district secretariat in Kolai Palas Kohistan, and feasibility studies for the construction of Central Jail Malakand and the upgradation of District Jail Kohat to Central Jail status.
\nThe meeting also approved road infrastructure schemes, including improvement and blacktopping of 15 kilometres of roads, construction of Sawari Bypass Road in Buner, and development of Batara Akhon Kalay Road via Kozh Shamnal Buner. An integrated development package for District Dera Ismail Khan was also cleared.
\nIn the education sector, projects were approved to operationalise newly established colleges across the province and to provide transport facilities as required. A project related to the Pak-Austria Fachhochschule Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology was also included, along with an improvement scheme for Girls Cadet College Mardan.
\nIn the forestry sector, approval was granted for the implementation of the management plan of Sheikh Badin National Park. Meanwhile, the PDWP also approved a monsoon preparedness plan for Rescue 1122 for 2026, along with schemes to strengthen emergency response capacity, including fire services in difficult areas and expansion of rescue operations in mining sectors.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
