{"id":546966,"date":"2026-05-17T12:53:20","date_gmt":"2026-05-17T07:53:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/?p=546966"},"modified":"2026-05-17T12:53:20","modified_gmt":"2026-05-17T07:53:20","slug":"govt-revises-petroleum-tax-structure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/govt-revises-petroleum-tax-structure\/","title":{"rendered":"Govt revises petroleum tax structure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> ISLAMABAD<br \/>\nA fresh adjustment in petroleum levy rates has become the key factor behind Pakistan\u2019s latest fuel price revision.<br \/>\nWhile consumers see a slight relief in petrol and diesel prices, the real shift lies in how taxes on fuel have been rebalanced.<br \/>\nThe federal government has modified the petroleum levy structure, making it the main driver behind the latest fuel price change.<br \/>\nAccording to sources from the Ministry of Petroleum, the levy on petrol has been reduced by Rs9.24 per litre, while the levy on diesel has been increased by Rs9.40 per litre.<br \/>\nThe adjustment signals a redistribution of tax burden between the two major petroleum products.<br \/>\nUnder the revised structure, the petroleum levy on petrol has been brought down from Rs117.41 to Rs108.17 per litre.<br \/>\nIn contrast, the levy on diesel has been raised from Rs42.60 to Rs52 per litre, marking a noticeable upward adjustment.<br \/>\nOfficials say the changes reflect an internal fiscal balancing strategy within petroleum taxation.<br \/>\nDespite the levy adjustments, the federal government has also reduced the retail prices of both petrol and diesel by Rs5 per litre each.<br \/>\nFollowing the revision, petrol has been set at Rs409.78 per litre, while diesel stands at Rs409.58 per litre.<br \/>\nThe Petroleum Division has issued a formal notification confirming the updated rates.<br \/>\nThe revised levy structure and fuel prices will take effect from midnight and remain valid for the next seven days.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD A fresh adjustment in petroleum levy rates has become the key factor behind Pakistan\u2019s latest fuel price revision.
