RIYADH
\nSaudi Arabia on Sunday said it intercepted three \u200cdrones \u200cafter they \u200centered its territory from Iraqi airspace. The Kingdom\u2019s defense ministry spokesman Major General Turki Al-Maliki said that \u200cit would \u200ctake the necessary \u200coperational \u200cmeasures to respond to \u200cany attempt to violate its sovereignty and security.
\nAl-Maliki added it will also take action to ensure the safety of citizens and residents on Saudi territory. While \u200chostilities during \u200cthe Iran conflict have largely been scaled down since \u200ca ceasefire came into effect in April, drones have been launched from Iraq towards Gulf countries.
\nQatar has condemned attempts to target Saudi Arabia and expressed Doha\u2019s support to all measures the Kingdom has taken to safeguard its sovereignty and the safety of citizens and residents.
\nThe UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan also issued separate statements strongly condemning the drone attack targeting the Kingdom.
\nJasem Mohamed Al-Budaiwi, the GCC\u2019s Secretary-General, also issued a condemnation against the attack and affirmed Saudi Arabia\u2019s security was an integral part of the regional bloc\u2019s broader security.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
