\nThe National Disaster Risk Management Fund (NDRMF) has invested Rs 903 million in strengthening the health emergency response system in Balochistan\u2019s 15 hospitals as part of broader disaster resilience and climate adaptation initiatives in disaster-prone districts.
\nAccording to the documents available with Wealth Pakistan, these projects were implemented in districts severely affected by climate-induced disasters, including Chagai, Naseerabad, Pishin, and Loralai, said a press release issued here on Saturday.
\nThe health system strengthening programme covered districts including Quetta, Pishin, Naseerabad, Loralai, Chagai, Kech, Khuzdar, Panjgur, Gwadar, Awaran, Washuk, Wadh, Nushki, Kharan and Kalat.
\nBesides healthcare interventions, the NDRMF also invested in disaster mitigation infrastructure across Balochistan.
\nAccording to the documents, the organisation reconstructed and rehabilitated 88 flood protection structures to protect vulnerable communities from recurring flash floods and climate-related disasters.
\nIn addition, 20 small dams and water conservation structures were developed to improve water management and climate resilience in remote areas of the province.
\nThe Fund also retrofitted 15 public buildings, including schools and Basic Health Units (BHUs), to improve structural safety against natural disasters.
\nFurthermore, an early warning system was installed to help local communities respond effectively to potential disasters and reduce risks to life and property.
