ISLAMABAD
\nA high-level meeting chaired by Federal Minister for National Health Services, Regulation and Coordination Syed Mustafa Kamal was held to discuss the admission of Indonesian students to Pakistan\u2019s medical institutions following a request from their government.
\nAcoording to ministry on Tuesday, the meeting was attended by Pakistan\u2019s Ambassador to Indonesia Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri through video link, while Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) President Dr. Rizwan Taj and the council\u2019s registrar were also present.
\nParticipants held detailed discussions on matters related to the admission of Indonesian medical students to Pakistani medical and dental institutions.
\nDuring the meeting, it was noted that the Indonesian government has requested admissions for its undergraduate and postgraduate medical students in quality medical colleges across Pakistan. The Indonesian government will bear all educational and residential expenses of the students.
\nSpeaking on the occasion, Mustafa Kamal said Indonesian students would be granted admissions to leading medical colleges in Pakistan through a transparent and merit-based process.
\nHe said around 200 Indonesian medical and dental students would be provided world-class educational and training facilities in Pakistan, adding that the initiative would significantly strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the field of medical education.
\nDescribing the development as encouraging, the minister said the Indonesian government\u2019s preference for Pakistani institutions reflected growing confidence in the quality of medical education available in the country.
\n\u201cThis initiative will not only strengthen bilateral relations between Pakistan and Indonesia but will also enhance Pakistan\u2019s international standing,\u201d Kamal said.
