\nU.S. President Donald Trump said Iran has agreed not to have a nuclear weapon and that he would \u200bprobably meet with Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei at some point \u200cif things \u201cwork out\u201d.
\n\u201cThey\u2019ve already agreed they\u2019re not going to have a nuclear weapon,\u201d Trump told \u201cPod Force One\u201d in an interview broadcast on Wednesday, \u200bwhile speaking about Iran.
\nAsked about Khamenei\u2019s involvement in talks \u200bwith the U.S. on ending hostilities, Trump said, \u201cHe\u2019s involved, absolutely. … I think they have a lot of respect \u200bfor him.\u201d
\nTrump said he was hearing Iran\u2019s leader was not doing \u200btoo well but was giving his approval during the negotiations. Trump added that he had not had \u201cthe privilege of meeting\u201d Khamenei.
\n\u201cI\u2019d like to \u200bmeet him. We probably will meet at some point, depending \u200bon how it all works out,\u201d Trump said.
\nThe U.S. president said he \u200cviewed the Iran war as a success because the country\u2019s military had been defeated. The conflict, which began with U.S.-Israeli strikes on February 28, has upended the global energy market and \u200bhas proven unpopular \u200bwith Americans months before November congressional elections.
\n\u201cIran\u2019s a big success,\u201d Trump said in the interview. \u201cWe\u2019ll see what happens. \u200bWe\u2019re going to, we\u2019re working on a deal, \u200band that happens fine. If it doesn\u2019t happen, that\u2019s OK too. We\u2019ll do it the other way.\u201d
