\nISLAMABAD
\nThe Riphah Institute of Media Sciences (RIMS), Riphah International University, organised a Job Fair on Thursday aimed at connecting students and graduates with industry professionals and providing them with opportunities for internships and employment.
\nThe event brought together representatives of leading media, communication, defence, animation, gaming and information technology organisations under one roof, enabling students to interact directly with prospective employers. A number of students were shortlisted for internships, while several others secured employment opportunities during the fair.
\nSenior officials from various organisations, including Khyber TV\/K2 TV, Pakistan Television (PTV), Dream Valley Animation, Silver Ray Studio, Portsea Games, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Pakistan Navy, Samaa TV and Evolance Institute of IT, visited the fair and conducted interviews with students and graduates.
\nStudents expressed appreciation for the initiative, describing it as a valuable platform for launching their professional careers.
\n\u201cWe are glad to see that our department is organising such an activity, which has encouraged us much. The students, on completion of their studies, face difficulties in getting jobs. But such a fair has helped us students a great deal,\u201d said a student participating in the event.
\nDanish Raja, who was selected by a television channel for a job opportunity, said the fair had opened new avenues for his career.
\n\u201cI have been invited by the TV channel to visit their office and start a paid internship, which will later convert into a job. I am grateful to the university and our department for this initiative of organising a job fair,\u201d he said.
\nHead of the Department of Riphah Institute of Media Sciences, Dr Muhammad Riaz, said the fair was organised to bridge the gap between academia and industry and to facilitate students in their transition from education to professional life.
\n\u201cThe fair was aimed at bridging the gap between academia and industry. I believe that more such events can be held in future to facilitate our students,\u201d he said.
\nVice-Chancellor of Riphah International University, Prof Dr Anis Ahmad, and Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Prof Dr Abdulhamit Bir\u0131\u015f\u0131k, also visited the fair. They interacted with students and representatives of participating organisations and appreciated the efforts of the organisers for creating employment and internship opportunities for young graduates.
