\nA launching ceremony for the revised edition of the book \u201cRethinking Education in Pakistan: Perceptions, Practices and Possibilities\u201d was held at Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) here on Monday. The event was attended by renowned educationist, researcher, author and former Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Dr. Shahid Siddiqui who specially participated in the ceremony.
\nThe event was presided over by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood while a large number of educationists, intellectuals, teachers, researchers, students and individuals from various fields of life attended the ceremony.
\nSpeakers at the occasion highlighted the significance of the book, describing it as an important academic contribution for understanding Pakistan\u2019s education system, policy development, teaching methodologies and future educational needs. They noted that the work reflects Dr. Shahid Siddiqui\u2019s extensive research experience and deep academic insight, offering a critical analysis of the country\u2019s education sector along with practical recommendations for reform.
\nThey further expressed hope that the revised edition would prove highly useful for policymakers, education managers, teachers, researchers, and students, and would serve as a valuable guide for improving educational standards in Pakistan.
\nIn his address, the author Dr. Shahid Siddiqui emphasized that education is the foundation of any society\u2019s progress and prosperity. He stated that, in light of rapidly changing global trends, reforms in Pakistan\u2019s education system have become essential. He added that the revised edition incorporates contemporary challenges and future possibilities to provide more relevant guidance for stakeholders in the education sector.
\nThe ceremony also featured addresses by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood, JICA Country Advisor in Pakistan Abid Gul, Dean Faculty of Education at Fatima Jinnah Women University Prof. Dr. Malik Ghulam Behlol, Deputy Educational Advisor from the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training Dr. Shoaiba Mansoor and Associate Professor Dr. Afshah Huma from AIOU\u2019s Faculty of Education.
\nAt the conclusion of the event, a book stall showcasing various publications by Dr. Shahid Siddiqui was set up, offering a 40% discount for students and faculty members.
