Extreme heat, unseasonal rains, floods, and droughts are causing serious damage not only to the economy but also to human health. Although overcoming these problems is not impossible, it is certainly difficult. Tree plantation can help reduce the severity of these issues. Trees are a precious gift of nature. They absorb carbon dioxide, provide oxygen, and help keep the environment clean. They also cool the atmosphere, which is especially important during the hot summer months. Trees provide shade and play a significant role in reducing the negative impacts of climate change. Planting more trees in Pakistan is essential. Climate-related threats are likely to become even more severe in the future, and if attention is not given to tree plantation now, many problems may arise later.
\nPakistan has a limited forest cover, and even the existing forests are being cut down, which is extremely harmful. There are several reasons behind the cutting of trees. Population growth, urban expansion, and the desire for profit all contribute to deforestation. As the population increases and cities expand, more land is required for housing, leading to the removal of trees. Illegal logging is also carried out for financial gain. Trees should only be cut when absolutely necessary. Cutting them for minor needs or profit should be prohibited at the government level. Tree plantation should be encouraged so that growing more trees becomes a national mission. Trees should be planted not only in rural areas but also in urban homes. A greater number of trees in any community creates a healthier and more pleasant environment.
\nIslam also emphasizes the importance of planting trees and highlights its immense rewards. According to a Hadith: \u201cWhoever plants a tree and patiently looks after it until it grows and bears fruit, Allah records charity for him in return for its fruit.\u201d (Musnad Ahmad). What a great reward it is that a person benefits from the tree while also receiving divine blessings. Another Hadith narrated by Anas ibn Malik (RA) states that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: \u201cIf the Day of Judgment is about to begin and one of you has a sapling in his hand, and he is able to plant it before it begins, then let him plant it.\u201d (Musnad Ahmad).
\nTrees offer numerous benefits. The most important is that they provide oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide. They help keep the environment clean, which is vital for human life. Trees also provide wood used for furniture and many other necessities. Their branches can serve as fodder for animals. Cutting trees according to genuine needs is acceptable, but unnecessary cutting should be avoided. Fruit-bearing trees provide food and can also generate income when their fruits are sold. Wood from trees is used to make doors, windows, chairs, and other furniture. Parts of certain trees are also used in medicines. If there is insufficient space to grow trees, flowering plants or vegetables can be cultivated instead. Roses, jasmine, and other flowers can easily be grown in plastic or clay pots, making the environment more fragrant and pleasant. Similarly, vegetables can be grown and used as food, helping households save money.
\nTree plantation should be transformed into a nationwide movement. Citizens should be provided with free seeds or saplings. Some plants are inexpensive, while others can be obtained at no cost. Free plants should be planted on a large scale, and even low-cost saplings should be purchased and grown. Unfortunately, people often spend money on unnecessary items but hesitate to invest in plants, despite their immense benefits. Therefore, instead of focusing on the cost of plants, we should appreciate their value. Even one or two flowering plants can make the atmosphere of a home more pleasant. Simply being near flowering plants creates a sense of happiness and peace.
\nEvery individual should pledge to plant as many trees as possible. If even ten million people commit themselves to tree plantation, a vast number of trees will become visible within a few years. When trees are abundant, cutting a limited number of them for necessary purposes will not cause significant harm. Everyone should consider it their responsibility to participate in tree plantation. At the very least, people should encourage others to plant trees. Forest areas should be expanded, and trees should also be planted on agricultural lands. Trees prevent soil erosion and help improve underground water levels. Birds find shelter in trees, making the environment more lively and pleasant. Even a person suffering from stress or depression can feel refreshed by listening to birds singing in the trees. Even when birds are not present, trees and flowers contribute to mental well-being. Gardening is a productive hobby that not only prevents the waste of time but also improves physical and mental health.
\nIn conclusion, tree plantation is not merely an environmental activity,it is an investment in a healthier, greener, and more sustainable future. Every citizen should play a role in protecting and increasing Pakistan\u2019s green cover for the benefit of present and future generations.<\/p>\n
