\nCity police chief Dr Mian Saeed Ahmed on Sunday reaffirmed the administration\u2019s commitment to ensuring peaceful observance of Muharram-ul-Haram, saying comprehensive security measures had been put in place across the provincial capital in consultation with religious leaders and the Muttahida Aman Committee.
\nThe assurance came during a meeting held at Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines, where the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) met a delegation of the Muttahida Aman Committee led by Advocate Maulana Hussain Ahmed Madani. Senior police officials, including SS Operations Farhan Khan, SP City Shahid Adnan, SP Security Sajjad Hussain and SP Traffic Riaz Khalil, also attended the meeting.
\nSpeaking on the occasion, Dr Saeed Ahmed said the Muttahida Aman Committee had played a vital role in promoting interfaith harmony and maintaining peace in Peshawar. He appreciated the committee\u2019s continued cooperation with the police and district administration during religious occasions.
\nHe said Muharram conveyed the message of patience, sacrifice and perseverance, adding that religious tolerance and mutual respect were essential for preserving peace in the city.
\nThe CCPO said a comprehensive security audit had been conducted ahead of Muharram to strengthen security arrangements at mosques, imambargahs, places of worship and other sensitive locations, including those belonging to minority communities.
\nHe said surveillance at the city\u2019s entry and exit points had been enhanced, while monitoring of suspicious individuals had also been intensified to prevent any untoward incident.
\n\u201cNo one will be allowed to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere of the city,\u201d he said, adding that the police would leave no stone unturned to protect the lives and property of citizens during Muharram.
\nThe head of the Muttahida Aman Committee, Advocate Maulana Hussain Ahmed Madani, presented recommendations for maintaining law and order during Muharram and expressed satisfaction with the security measures taken by the police.
