{"id":552935,"date":"2026-06-25T10:23:22","date_gmt":"2026-06-25T05:23:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/?p=552935"},"modified":"2026-06-25T10:23:57","modified_gmt":"2026-06-25T05:23:57","slug":"rubio-commits-to-uae-security","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/rubio-commits-to-uae-security\/","title":{"rendered":"Rubio commits to UAE Security"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> ABU DHABI<br \/>\nUS Secretary of State Marco Rubio discussed the US-Iran deal with UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed on Wednesday, renewing Washington\u2019s commitment to the country\u2019s security as he embarks on a tour of the Gulf.<br \/>\nRubio is seeking to reassure close US allies \u2014 who were hit hard by Iran during the Middle East war \u2014 about the memorandum of understanding with Tehran, which fails to address some of the Gulf\u2019s long-standing concerns about its missile program and proxies.<br \/>\n\u201cThey discussed President Trump\u2019s memorandum of understanding with Iran, efforts to secure full and safe transit through the Strait of Hormuz, and the importance of peace and stability in the region,\u201d his spokesperson Tommy Pigott said.<br \/>\nRubio also \u201cthanked the UAE for their leadership and unparallelled support, praised their courage and resilience in the face of Iran\u2019s attacks, and reaffirmed the US commitment to the security of the Emirates,\u201d Pigott added.<br \/>\nThe secretary of state arrived in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday evening and held closed-door talks with Sheikh Mohamed the following day, then set off for Kuwait. After that he will travel on to Bahrain, where he will attend a Gulf Cooperation Council meeting on Thursday.<br \/>\nHe insisted that no country is allowed to impose tolls on the Strait of Hormuz after Oman and Iran, which border the waterway, said they were considering charging \u201ccosts\u201d for ships navigating the key conduit for Gulf oil and gas. \u201cIt\u2019s an international waterway. No country is allowed to charge tolls or fees on an international waterway.
