\nFederal Minister for Petroleum on Saturday said efforts are underway to ease the burden on consumers within international commitments, adding that a high-level committee set up under the Prime Minister\u2019s directives will oversee transparent price determination, with good news likely for the public in the coming days.
\nWhile speaking to a local media outlet, Minister said that the Prime Minister\u2019s top priority is the protection of consumer rights, adding that a high-level committee has been constituted under his directives to ensure transparency in petroleum pricing and that positive developments are expected soon.
\nPervaiz Malik said the government is closely monitoring international oil market trends and urged the public to review the international Platts prices for petrol and diesel this week, noting that pricing decisions are being made on a fair and transparent basis.
\nThe minister stated that the government is neither favoring any sector nor imposing an undue burden on consumers, adding that it remains committed to passing on any available benefit to the public while staying within the framework of international obligations.
\nHighlighting the government\u2019s performance, he said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, petrol prices have been reduced by Rs155 per liter and diesel by Rs200 per liter so far, reflecting consistent efforts to provide relief to the public.
\nMalik further shared that international Platts benchmark prices for petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) for the current week show fluctuations in global markets, adding that despite challenging global conditions, including war-related uncertainties, fuel supply has remained stable without shortages.
\nThe minister said citizens can clearly observe that pricing is being handled fairly and transparently and reiterated that the government is working continuously to reduce the financial burden on people in line with PM directives.
