The approval was granted by Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan following a request from the Senate chairman. The project will be financed through the Road Maintenance Account (RMA) Fund.<br \/>\nThe 62-kilometre project is estimated to cost Rs4.6 billion and is expected to be completed within one year. Construction work is likely to begin next month. As part of the scheme, 44.8 kilometres of the existing road will be raised to match the level of both carriageways, improving road safety and traffic flow.<br \/>\nThe Multan-Lodhran Road has remained in poor condition for years, causing difficulties for commuters, transporters and residents. The project is expected to reduce travel time, improve road safety and provide better transport facilities. Expressing satisfaction over the approval, Gilani said another promise made to the people of Multan and Lodhran was being fulfilled.<br \/>\nHe said the reconstruction and dualisation of the road would provide safer, faster and better travel facilities for the public.
