\nAwami National Party Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Mian Iftikhar Hussain on Wednesday strongly condemned the alleged drone strike in the Hassan Khel subdivision of the provincial capital, saying that targeting civilians was \u201cinhumane, immoral and highly condemnable.\u201d
\nIn a statement, Mr Hussain said reports that several civilians, including women and children, had been injured in the alleged attack were deeply disturbing. He stressed that the protection of the lives and property of innocent citizens was the state\u2019s foremost responsibility and alleged that people in KP were increasingly feeling insecure because of the government\u2019s failure to ensure their safety.
\nThe ANP leader said conflicting accounts were emerging about the incident and questioned the provincial government\u2019s failure to issue a clear and authoritative statement despite the passage of several hours.
\n\u201cIt is the government\u2019s responsibility to immediately bring the facts before the nation,\u201d he said, calling for transparency regarding the circumstances surrounding the alleged strike.
\nMr Hussain also criticised the provincial government, alleging that while the province continued to face unrest, terrorism and incidents of violence, its leadership remained preoccupied with political affairs.
\nExpressing solidarity with the affected families of Hassan Khel, he prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured and urged the government and relevant institutions to ensure the provision of the best possible medical treatment.
\nHe also called for comprehensive relief and compensation for the victims and stressed the need for effective measures to safeguard civilians and prevent such incidents in the future.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
