\nThe Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department has seized over 31.5 kilogrammes of narcotics in separate operations across the province and arrested several suspects, officials said on Thursday.
\nThe department said cases had been registered against the accused at the relevant excise police stations, while further investigations were under way.
\nIn Nowshera, excise officials foiled an attempt to smuggle narcotics on a motorcycle at the GT Road Ajab Bagh excise check-post, recovering 18kg of hashish. A case was registered against the suspect.
\nIn Peshawar, the Excise Bureau of Intelligence and Investigation Squad, acting on a tip-off, intercepted a motorcyclist near the service road and recovered 6kg of hashish. The suspect was arrested and booked at the Excise Police Station, Peshawar.
\nIn Khyber district, excise police, acting on intelligence, searched a woman near the Jamrud Bypass with the assistance of a lady constable and recovered 3.6kg of hashish. She was taken into custody and a case was registered.
\nIn Kohat, the recently established Excise Police Station arrested a suspected drug smuggler, identified as Shakirullah, son of Banaras Khan, after recovering 3.6kg of hashish from his possession. A case was registered and legal proceedings were initiated.
\nIn Abbottabad, the Excise Bureau of Intelligence and Investigation Hazara Squad B-7 recovered 293 grammes of heroin from the possession of Naveed, son of Muhammad Rafiq, during an operation near the Havelian Interchange. The suspect was arrested and booked at the Excise Police Station, Abbottabad.
\nAccording to the department, a total of 31.493kg of narcotics, including hashish and heroin, was recovered during the operations.
\nOfficials said the crackdown was part of the provincial government\u2019s policy of zero tolerance against narcotics. The department vowed to continue indiscriminate action against drug traffickers and smugglers, saying efforts would continue to protect the younger generation from drug abuse and to curb the narcotics trade across the province.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
