KP info minister warns of action over negligence during surprise hospital inspections

\nKhyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information and Public Relations Shafi Jan on Friday carried out surprise late-night inspections of two public hospitals in Kohat, warning that negligence in patient care and administrative lapses would not be tolerated.
\nThe minister inspected emergency units, inpatient wards and other key departments to assess the quality of medical care and administrative arrangements.
\nPakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) KP General Secretary Salman Shinwari accompanied the minister during the visits. He received briefings from the hospital administrations and stressed the need for the effective implementation of government directives.
\nDuring the visits, Mr Jan interacted with patients and their attendants to seek feedback on medical treatment, the availability of medicines, doctors\u2019 attendance and the overall standard of healthcare. He also issued on-the-spot directives to hospital authorities to address shortcomings identified during the inspections.
\nAddressing the management of both hospitals, the minister directed the medical superintendents to ensure timely, quality and non-discriminatory healthcare for all patients. He warned that unnecessary delays in treatment, staff absenteeism, poor sanitation and administrative negligence would invite strict disciplinary action.
\n\u201cProviding dignified and quality healthcare to the public is the government\u2019s responsibility,\u201d he said, adding that complaints from patients should be addressed promptly while ensuring the uninterrupted availability of medicines, efficient emergency services and regular monitoring of staff performance.
\nMr Jan said the provincial government was committed to strengthening the public healthcare system through accountability and regular monitoring, adding that surprise inspections of government hospitals would continue to improve service delivery.
