\nCommissioner Peshawar Division Riaz Khan Mehsud paid a late-night visit to the historic Islamia College Peshawar, where he met the vice chancellor and reviewed progress on the ongoing renovation, restoration and architectural lighting project being executed under the Peshawar Uplift Programme Phase II.
\nAccording to an official statement, the commissioner was briefed by the relevant authorities that restoration work, including the installation of modern architectural lighting while preserving the building\u2019s original character and historical significance, was progressing rapidly and was expected to be completed within the next 48 hours.
\nMr Mehsud expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work and directed the authorities concerned to complete the remaining work within the stipulated timeframe while maintaining high standards so that the project could be formally inaugurated by the chief minister at the earliest.
\nSpeaking on the occasion, the commissioner said Islamia College Peshawar was not only an educational institution but also a symbol of the province\u2019s academic, cultural and historical identity.
\nHe said the project would give the historic building a new look through modern architectural lighting while preserving its original features, enhancing its historical appeal and making it more attractive for students, researchers, citizens and tourists.<\/p>\n
He said preserving and restoring the institution was among the government\u2019s priorities to safeguard its heritage for future generations. <\/p>\n
Mr Mehsud added that several initiatives were under way under the Peshawar Uplift Programme to preserve the city\u2019s historical heritage, saying the restoration of Islamia College was an important milestone in efforts to protect and promote Peshawar\u2019s cultural identity.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
