\nChief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi on Saturday directed police to expedite investigations into attacks on parliamentarians in Malakand Division and reaffirmed the government\u2019s commitment to strengthening security, improving governance and ensuring effective public service delivery across the region.
\nThe directives were issued during a high-level meeting chaired by the chief minister to review the security situation, development portfolio, governance and service delivery in Malakand Division, according to an official statement issued here.
\nThe meeting was attended by members of the National and Provincial Assemblies from Malakand Division, the chief secretary, inspector general of police, divisional commissioner, regional police officer and other senior officials.
\nOfficials briefed the meeting on the prevailing security situation, ongoing development projects, governance performance and the delivery of public services across the division.
\nThe chief minister instructed police authorities to expedite and conclude investigations into attacks on parliamentarians in the division, stressing that the protection of citizens\u2019 lives and property remained the government\u2019s foremost priority. He directed the authorities concerned to take all necessary measures on an urgent basis to ensure public safety and security.
\nMr Afridi said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) were being further strengthened through the provision of modern weapons and equipment to enhance their operational capabilities and improve the overall security environment.
\nHe also directed the relevant authorities to adopt a zero-tolerance policy against terrorism and narcotics, calling for coordinated and indiscriminate enforcement operations across Malakand Division to ensure a safe environment for the public.
\nReviewing the development portfolio, the chief minister directed the authorities to ensure full funding for the Paediatrics Hospital and Arshad Sharif University projects in Swat. He also ordered the establishment of shelters for labourers and the provision of cold drinking water and fans at public places.
\n\u201cWe must assess our performance against tangible improvements in public satisfaction and well-being,\u201d the chief minister said.
\nHe further instructed the administration to strengthen service delivery, place citizen satisfaction at the centre of performance evaluation and continue holding Khuli Kachehris to ensure the timely resolution of public grievances.
\nThe meeting was informed that work was under way on 737 development schemes across Malakand Division and that 99 per cent of the allocated development funds had been utilised.
\nOfficials also said the fortification of police infrastructure across the division was in progress. Fourteen Police Facilitation Centres are currently operational, while three more are under construction.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
