\nChamkani police on Monday rejected allegations circulating on social media regarding their handling of a vehicle recovery case, terming them \u201cbaseless, misleading and contrary to facts,\u201d and said officers acted strictly in accordance with the law to maintain public order.
\nAccording to a police statement, Faysal Bank Limited\u2019s recovery officer, Muhammad Saad, accompanied by other bank officials, approached Chamkani police regarding the repossession of a vehicle bearing registration number ABE-116 (engine number Q101031).
\nPolice claimed that the vehicle was owned by the bank and that a dispute over unpaid instalments was pending between the bank and Sabir Hussain.
\nPolice said they initiated proceedings under Section 149 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) to prevent any breach of peace and directed both parties to remain within the bounds of the law.
\nAccording to the statement, bank officials later produced written authorisation for the transfer of the vehicle. However, the vehicle could not be moved immediately because it was fitted with a tracking device. It was subsequently taken to a workshop to activate the tracker, where Sabir Hussain arrived along with 25 to 30 people.
\nThe police alleged that members of the group verbally abused bank employees and police personnel, created a disturbance, recorded videos and accused the police of removing items from the vehicle. They also allegedly attempted to take the vehicle away by force.
\nThe statement said police personnel exercised restraint and professionalism, brought the situation under control and advised both parties to seek legal remedies through the appropriate forum.
\nPolice further clarified that, after all legal formalities had been completed, the vehicle was transferred under the supervision of a mechanic. They maintained that no belongings were removed from the vehicle and no property was damaged during the process.
