According to a report, the annual inflation rate in June 2026 has decreased to 11.1%, down from 11.7% recorded in May. The World Bank has predicted that Pakistan\u2019s economic growth rate for the current financial year will remain between 3.0% and 3.4%. The State Bank of Pakistan has kept the interest rate unchanged at 10.5% in its monetary policy to ensure economic stability. According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics in Islamabad, the overall annual inflation rate has reached 13.52%. It has also been reported that the prices of 23 items have increased.
\nThe figures mentioned above are meaningless for the common man. The government should focus on how an ordinary person is managing to survive. The common man is struggling immensely to cope with the current situation. Electricity bills and other utility bills are continuously adding to the difficulties of ordinary citizens. Rising energy prices are affecting millions of lives. The value of the rupee is continuously declining. Paying just the electricity bill has become extremely difficult for the average person.
\nThe government\u2019s claims that the inflation rate is decreasing are hard for the public to accept. In comparison to the past, incomes have decreased while the prices of goods have increased. Due to the clear gap between income and prices, public discontent has risen significantly.
\nThe increase in taxes is extremely alarming. Everything is becoming continuously more expensive. The prices of vegetables, lentils, ghee, sugar, and other food items have risen sharply. Along with inflation, unemployment is also increasing. The international situation is having an impact, but the public must also be given the right to live. Every Pakistani wants to live a somewhat better life \u2014 to be able to educate their children.
\nThose who are in permanent jobs or are financially better off are managing to live decently. However, those who work on daily wages are finding it extremely difficult to survive. For those who are barely managing, the government\u2019s statistics seem like a joke. Millions of people are facing food shortages. Clean drinking water is also not available. Millions are desperate for better healthcare. Treatment in Pakistan has become extremely expensive. Jobs are very hard to find.
\nThe government should formulate policies that can immediately improve the uncertain situation in the country. An ordinary family goes to sleep every night worried about what they will eat the next morning. People are turning into beggars. Every sector in Pakistan is in decline. The rulers claim they are moving towards improvement, but the reality is the opposite. No plan has yet been made that could genuinely improve the country\u2019s economic situation. Claims cannot change facts. The economic situation is worsening. If serious attention is not paid immediately, the situation will become much worse in the future.
\nThe international situation is also heavily affecting Pakistan\u2019s economy. The growing tensions in the Middle East and bad conditions in other regions are damaging Pakistan\u2019s economy. Political instability is also proving dangerous for the national economy. Despite these issues, the economic situation can be improved. Many countries have faced worse situations than Pakistan, yet their economies are much better. All coalition partners in the government can work together to improve Pakistan\u2019s economy. Dialogue should also be held with the opposition. Pakistan is currently going through a very delicate situation \u2014 all political parties can sit together and find a better way forward.
\nThe perks and privileges of the rulers are continuously increasing, while problems for the common man are being multiplied. Rulers can send a positive message to the public by reducing their own privileges. The industrial and agricultural sectors urgently need attention. Due to inflation, the public is becoming disillusioned with the government. People suffering from inflation have grown fed up with the current rulers.
\nThere is a dire need for investment in Pakistan. Local investors should also invest within Pakistan. Internationally, investors can be invited as well. Countries like Saudi Arabia, China, and many others may show interest in investing in Pakistan. Loans are also draining the blood of the Pakistani people. The debt burden must be reduced; otherwise, the economy cannot improve. A large portion of foreign exchange goes toward debt servicing. Pakistan\u2019s mineral resources can also be utilized properly.
\nManaging the economy in the current situation is extremely difficult, but through revolutionary steps, it can be improved. The economy cannot be strengthened merely by taking loans, nor is obtaining loans any great achievement. If the loan money and national resources are used constructively, Pakistan\u2019s economy can become strong. It is still not too late.
