\nKhyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority (KPFS&HFA) has continued province-wide crackdown against the transportation and distribution of substandard and adulterated food items.
\nAccording to the Food Authority spokesperson, special checkpoints were established at key entry and exit points across various districts, where food-carrying vehicles were thoroughly inspected. Mobile Food Testing Laboratories were also deployed to conduct on-the-spot testing of milk and other food products to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
\nDuring operations in Peshawar, Food Safety teams seized approximately 1,200 litres of substandard and counterfeit beverages from a vehicle. In addition, 80 litres of substandard milk were discarded on the spot, while fines were imposed on the violators.
\nIn Haripur, more than 300 litres of adulterated milk were recovered and destroyed, and legal proceedings were initiated against those responsible.
\nSimilarly, in Dera Ismail Khan, Food Safety officials seized and disposed of 1,400 litres of hazardous milk. In another operation, the Malakand Food Safety team intercepted a vehicle at the Swat Expressway, confiscated 500 litres of adulterated milk, destroyed the consignment, and imposed fines on the offenders.
\nThe spokesperson added that similar inspection drives and checkpoint operations were also carried out in Bannu, Swabi, Charsadda, Abbottabad, Swat, Nowshera, Buner, Chitral, Khyber, Kohat, Lower Dir, Mardan and Lakki Marwat to prevent the movement of unsafe and substandard food products across the province.
\nSpeaking on the occasion, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Food Dr Muhammad Israr Khan, said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government remained fully committed to ensuring the availability of safe, hygienic and quality food for the public.
\nHe reiterated that indiscriminate action against those involved in food adulteration and counterfeiting would continue until the food adulteration mafia was completely eliminated from the province.
