\nProvincial Minister for Health Khaleeq ur Rehman on Thursday inaugurated the Burns and Plastic Surgery Centre, a new dialysis unit, outpatient department (OPD), wards and other healthcare facilities at the Medical Teaching Institution (MTI) Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC).
\nChairman Board of Governors Dr Noor-ul-Iman, Hospital Director Dr Gulzar Ahmad Khan, Medical Director Dr Khalid Khan, Director of the Institute of Kidney Diseases Dr Kamran Khan, Director of the Burns and Plastic Surgery Centre Dr Taheemdullah, Director PECON Dr Sanaullah and other senior officials attended the ceremony.
\nAddressing the gathering, the minister said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government was committed to strengthening major teaching hospitals by expanding modern healthcare services, improving patient care and enhancing institutional capacity.
\nHe said the government was utilising all available resources to ensure the provision of quality and accessible healthcare to the people.
\nMr Rehman appreciated the efforts of the hospital administration, doctors, nurses and supporting staff, saying their leadership, teamwork and dedication had contributed to improving healthcare services. He assured them of the government\u2019s continued support for institutions and healthcare professionals demonstrating outstanding performance.
\nThe minister said the establishment of the Burns and Plastic Surgery Centre had significantly improved treatment facilities for burn victims in the province, reducing the need for patients to seek specialised care outside Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
\nHe reaffirmed the government\u2019s commitment to further strengthening the centre by providing the required resources and facilities.
\nDescribing the Sehat Card as one of the government\u2019s flagship public health initiatives, Mr Rehman said nearly Rs50 billion had been allocated for the programme in the current fiscal year. He added that the proposal to include burn treatment under the Sehat Card scheme would be discussed with the relevant authorities.
\nThe minister said medical teaching institutions played a key role not only in patient care but also in medical education, research and the training of future healthcare professionals, adding that the government remained committed to strengthening these institutions across the province.
\nDuring the visit, Mr Rehman also inaugurated the new dialysis unit, OPD and wards at the Institute of Kidney Diseases.
\nHe visited various departments, interacted with patients and inquired about the quality of healthcare services being provided.
\nAccording to officials, patients expressed satisfaction with the treatment and appreciated the services of the hospital administration and medical staff.
\nOn the occasion, Director of the Burns and Plastic Surgery Centre Dr Taheemdullah briefed the minister on the institution\u2019s progress, saying the centre had expanded specialised burn and reconstructive surgery services while strengthening training, research and rehabilitation facilities.
