\nIllegal encroachments on footpaths in Mardan\u2019s busiest commercial areas have become a major source of inconvenience for the public. Shopkeepers and several private hospitals on Bank Road, Pakistan Chowk, Sarfaraz Ganj, Khwaja Ganj, Shaheedan Bazaar, Shamsi Road, and Nahar Chowk have occupied footpaths by placing merchandise, generators, and other equipment, effectively blocking pedestrian walkways. Despite the growing problem, the district administration has yet to take effective action.
\nResidents say that footpaths were constructed to ensure the safe movement of pedestrians, but due to widespread encroachments they are now forced to walk on the roads, significantly increasing the risk of traffic accidents. They also pointed out that merchandise displayed outside shops and illegal roadside parking have narrowed the roads, resulting in severe traffic congestion throughout the day and causing long delays for commuters.
\nLocal residents and a section of the business community have also expressed concern over the situation, stating that the illegal occupation of footpaths by a few individuals has not only created hardships for citizens but has also damaged the city\u2019s appearance and urban environment.
\nMembers of the public have urged the higher authorities to launch a permanent and impartial anti-encroachment operation instead of carrying out temporary crackdowns. They called upon the district administration, municipal authorities, and other relevant departments to immediately clear all footpaths of illegal encroachments, take strict action against violators, and implement effective measures to restore smooth traffic flow, ensuring safe and convenient movement for pedestrians and motorists alike.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
