\nA cabinet standing committee on Wednesday directed the authorities to prepare a comprehensive financial plan for clearing outstanding land acquisition liabilities of public universities and educational institutions in Mardan in accordance with court orders.
\nThe directive was issued at a meeting of the Cabinet Standing Committee chaired by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Law, Human Rights and Parliamentary Affairs Aftab Alam. said a handout.
\nAccording to the statement, the meeting was attended by provincial ministers Meena Khan Afridi, Fazal Shakoor Khan and Muzzammal Aslam, MPA Zahir Shah Toru, senior officials of the Higher Education, Law and Agriculture departments, and representatives of public universities.
\nThe committee reviewed decretal liabilities arising from land acquired for Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, the Agriculture University Peshawar, the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Mardan, Bacha Khan Medical College Mardan and Ameer Muhammad Khan Campus, Mardan.
\nThe participants stressed that all outstanding payments should be made transparently, in accordance with legal requirements and under a sustainable financial framework.
\nAddressing the meeting, Mr Alam said the provincial government was committed to implementing court decisions, protecting public resources and ensuring timely payments to landowners entitled under the law.
\nHe directed the relevant departments to coordinate closely and prepare accurate data and a practical financial strategy to avoid future legal complications.
\nThe committee instructed the deputy commissioner of Mardan, acting as the collector in the case, to present a comprehensive report at the next meeting, including the principal outstanding amount and comparative repayment options based on mark-up rates of two, three and four per cent over four, five and six years.
\nIt also sought details of the total land acquired, the number of landowners, payments made so far, outstanding liabilities and the overall financial implications to facilitate informed decision-making.
\nMr Alam reiterated the government\u2019s commitment to ensuring the efficient use of public funds, timely fulfilment of legal obligations and the resolution of financial and legal issues affecting development projects.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
