\nKhyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Irrigation Riaz Khan on Wednesday directed officials to expedite work on the under-construction Chapra Dam and Daur Right Bank Canal projects in Haripur, expressing concern over delays and stressing their timely completion.
\nThe minister issued the directives during a visit to Haripur to inspect the progress of the two irrigation schemes on the instructions of Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi, a handout said.
\nAccompanied by MPA Akbar Ayub and senior officials of the Irrigation Department, including the director general of Small Dams, the superintending engineer and the executive engineer, Mr Khan reviewed construction work at both sites.
\nAt Chapra Dam, officials briefed the minister on the progress of construction, hydrology, spillway and outlet works.
\nExpressing dissatisfaction over the pace of work, Mr Khan directed the authorities to accelerate construction while ensuring strict adherence to quality and engineering standards.
\nHe said the Chapra Dam project would play a significant role in promoting agriculture and improving water management in Haripur, adding that no negligence or unnecessary delay would be tolerated.
\nThe minister also inspected the under-construction Daur Right Bank Canal, where he was briefed on the project\u2019s progress by departmental officials.
\nHe instructed the authorities to maintain transparency, quality and engineering standards throughout the execution of the project.
\nMr Khan said the provincial government was committed to ensuring the timely completion of development projects and providing essential public services through the effective utilisation of available resources.
\nHe described the Chapra Dam and Daur Right Bank Canal as vital projects for the economic development of Haripur and said their completion remained a priority for the provincial government.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
