\nTwo senior police officers posted at Landikotal Police Station in Khyber district have been suspended after an inquiry found them allegedly involved in accepting bribes from Afghan refugees returning to Afghanistan under the government\u2019s repatriation process, police officials said on Friday.
\nDistrict Police Officer (DPO) Khyber Waqar Ahmad told journalists that Station House Officer (SHO) ASI Eshrat Khan Shinwari and additional SHO Azmat Wali Shinwari had been suspended and charge sheets had been issued against them. He said the disciplinary action followed complaints reportedly lodged by the Afghan Consulate in Peshawar.
\nAccording to a press release issued by the Peshawar Police, the City Capital Police Officer (CCPO) Peshawar, Dr. Mian Saeed Khan, ordered the suspension of SHO ASI Eshrat Shinwari and additional SHO Azmat Wali over allegations of accepting bribes from Afghan nationals during the ongoing repatriation process.
\nUnder the official suspension order, both officers have been directed to report immediately to Police Lines, Shakas in Khyber district. The order states that they are accused of illegally receiving money from Afghan refugees during their return to Afghanistan. A formal charge sheet and a detailed statement of allegations would be issued separately, police sources said. The suspension took effect immediately on July 17, 2026.
\nDPO Waqar Ahmad said the action was taken after multiple complaints alleged that the officers had extorted money from Afghan citizens returning to their homeland. He added that CCPO Dr. Mian Saeed Khan had constituted an inquiry committee headed by the SSP Operations to investigate the allegations.
\nAccording to the DPO, the committee found sufficient evidence to substantiate the complaints, following which SHO ASI Eshrat Khan Shinwari and Additional SHO Head Constable Azmat Wali Shinwari were held responsible and suspended. Charge sheets have also been prepared against both officers.
\nPolice sources said the Afghan Consulate in Peshawar had formally lodged complaints with the CCPO regarding the alleged collection of money from Afghan nationals during the repatriation process.
\nThe CCPO also issued a press release of the suspension orders and reaffirmed the police department\u2019s zero-tolerance policy against corruption and illegal practices.
