\nThe Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has fast-tracked plans for a 1,000-bed mega hospital in Kohat and approved the installation of an MRI scanner, CT scanner and cath lab at the Divisional Headquarters Hospital to upgrade healthcare services in the division.
\nPresiding over a Divisional Health Review meeting at the Commissioner\u2019s Office here on Friday, Health Minister Mian Khaliq ur Rahman said the site for the new tertiary care facility would be finalised soon in consultation with elected representatives, a handout said. He said the hospital would cater to Kohat Division and adjoining districts and significantly improve access to advanced treatment.
\nThe meeting was attended by Provincial Information Minister Shafi Jan, DDAC Chairman and MPA Daud Shah Afridi, Commissioner Kohat Syed Motasim Billah Shah, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nawaz Wazir, district health officers, medical superintendents and other senior officials.
\nMr Khaliq directed officials to complete the Liaquat Memorial Women and Children Hospital within the stipulated timeframe. He also ordered them to address operational issues at Type-C and Type-D hospitals, Basic Health Units and Rural Health Centres, restore non-functional X-ray machines, and procure additional diagnostic equipment where needed.
\nBriefing the meeting, Commissioner Motasim Billah Shah said Kohat Division currently has 289 functional public health facilities, including one Category-A hospital in Kohat. He updated the participants on staffing, medicine supplies, diagnostic services and progress on ongoing development projects.
\nInformation Minister Shafi Jan said strengthening the healthcare system, equipping hospitals with modern technology and ensuring timely completion of health projects were among the provincial government\u2019s top priorities.
\nAfter the meeting, the health minister visited the under-construction Liaquat Memorial Women and Children Hospital and DHQ Hospital Kohat. He reviewed construction work, inspected emergency and other departments, met patients and attendants, and directed officials to further improve service delivery.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
