ISLAMABAD
\nPakistan and China have signed several agreements worth 440 million dollars in the field of pharmaceutical industry.
\nThe agreements were signed between Pakistani and Chinese pharmaceutical companies at a Pakistan-China Business-to-Business investment conference in Islamabad Friday.
\nAddressing the conference, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed confidence that the agreements would soon translate into practical projects and implementation, describing them as another important step forward in promoting CPEC 2.0.
\nHe said the participation of around 300 Chinese delegates in the conference reflects the unwavering commitment of both countries to expanding economic and commercial cooperation.
\nHighlighting the significance of the pharmaceutical partnership, Shehbaz Sharif said collaboration between Pakistani and Chinese companies would help promote the manufacturing of life-saving medicines and vaccines, strengthen research and development, and enable Pakistan to emerge as a regional centre of excellence for pharmaceutical exports.
\nReferring to the prevailing regional situation, the Prime Minister said the ongoing crisis has caused significant disruption not only in the region but across the world. He said Pakistan has played an important role in promoting dialogue and mediation between the United States and Iran.
\nReaffirming Pakistan\u2019s commitment to the safety of Chinese nationals, Shehbaz Sharif said the security of Chinese brothers and sisters working in Pakistan remains the government\u2019s highest priority.
\nHe said Pakistan will leave no stone unturned to provide them with the best possible security, adding that Chinese citizens are Pakistan\u2019s guests and brothers, and their happiness is Pakistan\u2019s happiness.
\nLater, addressing a news conference, Minister for National Health Services Mustafa Kamal expressed confidence that the agreements would help create job opportunities, transfer of technology and enable Pakistan to enter into new markets.
\nOn this occasion, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar Khan said Pakistan has achieved macro-economic stability and now the country is going to be a manufacturing hub.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
