\nChief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shahab Ali Shah on Monday directed all district administrations to ensure 100 percent preparedness for the ongoing monsoon season, warning that any negligence in field response could endanger public lives.
\nChairing a high-level meeting on governance and public service delivery, the Chief Secretary instructed deputy commissioners and field officers to intensify public awareness campaigns, install warning and precautionary signboards at identified disaster-prone locations, and keep contingency plans fully operational throughout the monsoon season.
\nHe stressed that district administrations must maintain the highest level of vigilance and emergency readiness, saying effective field performance was crucial to minimizing casualties and protecting communities from monsoon-related hazards. While acknowledging law and order challenges in some districts, he emphasized that these should not affect the delivery of essential public services, adding that citizens must remain confident that governance and service delivery would continue uninterrupted.
\nThe Chief Secretary also took notice of the poor condition of sports facilities in some districts and directed the Sports Department to conduct a comprehensive inspection of sports infrastructure across the province and submit recommendations for its rehabilitation.
\nThe meeting reviewed progress on governance reforms, including monsoon preparedness, tourism infrastructure, the Ehsaas e-Pension System, digital management of government vehicles, solid waste management, enforcement of building regulations, road improvement projects, and afforestation in tourist destinations.
\nOfficials informed the meeting that a digital government vehicle management system had been developed to ensure transparent use of official vehicles, improve monitoring, and strengthen compliance with rules and regulations.
\nThe meeting was also informed that the Ehsaas e-Pension System had become operational, with pension cases now being processed online. The platform, designed to eliminate unnecessary physical visits and manual procedures, has been integrated with more than 8,000 Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs), all provincial departments, and the offices of the Accountant General.
