\nThe Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Healthcare Commission (KPHCC) sealed 5,696 illegal medical centres during the fiscal year 2025-26, according to its annual performance report released on Wednesday. The commission in the same year also registered 2,574 new healthcare establishments across the province , the report said.
\nAccording to the spokesperson of the healthcare commission Azam Rehman, from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026, the commission registered 2,574 new healthcare facilities, bringing the total number of registered healthcare establishments across the province to 23,041.
\nDespite government austerity measures aimed at reducing fuel consumption, the commission carried out inspections of 28,085 healthcare establishments across the province during the year.
\nAs a result, 5,696 illegal medical centres were sealed, while 11,993 facilities were issued notices to obtain legal registration. In comparison, 1,491 illegal facilities were sealed during the previous fiscal year (2024-25).
\nThe report further stated that 394 healthcare establishments underwent licensing inspections during the year, of which 154 facilities that met the prescribed healthcare service standards were granted full licences.
\nSince the launch of the licensing programme in 2023, the commission has inspected 685 healthcare establishments, issuing full licences to 271 facilities that successfully complied with the required standards.
\nDuring the reporting period, the commission also organised 30 training sessions on healthcare service standards, providing training to 658 healthcare professionals. Following the training, 569 healthcare establishments were granted provisional licences. The report added that the commission received 1,158 complaints during the year and successfully resolved 1,105 of them.
\nDirector Operations Arsalan Ahmad Khan expressed satisfaction over the commission\u2019s performance, stating that ensuring the provision of quality healthcare services to the public remained the commission\u2019s foremost priority.
