\nMARDAN
\nProject Director Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cities Improvement Project (KPCIP) on Saturday inspected a section of Canal Road in Mardan after parts of the newly restored road sank due to recent rains and accumulation of water.
\nDuring the visit, Project Director Hameedullah Shah, accompanied by Director Technical KPCIP Engr. Provincial minister for Revenue Tariq Aryani was also present on the occasion.
\nAccording to a statement, Mian Muhammad Shakeel examined the affected section and inspected the sewerage pipeline trench beneath the road. He expressed serious displeasure over the premature damage to the newly restored road and directed the concerned officials and contractor to take immediate corrective measures.
\nThe project director found that water had seeped into the pipeline trench through damaged roadside drains and washed away the material beneath the road.
\nThis left gaps underneath the concrete layer supporting the road, causing the surface above to sink. Recent flooding in the area further worsened the situation.
\nHe directed the contractor to immediately repair the affected section and properly restore the pipeline trench. He also asked the consultant to inspect other sections of the road to determine whether similar problems exist elsewhere.
\nThe project director also ordered action against those found responsible for the lapse and directed the concerned teams to ensure that all repair work is carried out according to the required quality standards.
\nThe project director said that public infrastructure could not be allowed to deteriorate soon after completion and that negligence in project works would not be tolerated.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
