\nChief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah on Friday chaired a meeting to review progress on the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government\u2019s Health Sector Good Governance Road Map and directed the authorities concerned to expedite reforms aimed at improving healthcare delivery across the province.
\nThe meeting reviewed progress on targets relating to the establishment of the Health Information and Service Delivery Unit (HISDU), phased outsourcing of low-performing hospitals, provision of round-the-clock childbirth services at 250 Basic Health Units, healthcare waste management, environmental compliance, strengthening of District Headquarters Hospitals, recruitment of doctors and nurses, polio eradication and routine immunisation.
\nThe meeting was attended by the Health Secretary, the coordinator of the Provincial Emergency Operations Centre, senior officials of the health department and experts from the Directorate General Health Services.
\nReviewing progress on the reform agenda, Mr Shah directed officials to further strengthen routine immunisation across the province. He also appreciated the performance of the polio eradication teams during the July special campaign, particularly in Tank, Upper South Waziristan and North Waziristan.
\nThe chief secretary instructed the authorities to expedite the establishment of the Health Information and Service Delivery Unit and ensure the effective, phased implementation of the outsourcing plan for identified low-performing hospitals.
\nHe said improving governance and service delivery in the health sector remained a key priority of the provincial government and directed the health, planning and development, and finance departments to work in close coordination to achieve the reform targets within the stipulated timelines.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
