\nProvincial Minister for Health Khaleeq ur Rehman said on Friday that cervical cancer was a preventable disease and that timely diagnosis, effective awareness campaigns and vaccination can protect a large number of women from the life-threatening illness.
\nSpeaking at an orientation session on Cervical Cancer Awareness and Prevention at the Peshawar Barracks, the minister said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had placed the protection of women\u2019s health among its highest priorities.
\nThe session, organised by the Health Department for District Health Officers and District Education Officers (Female), briefed participants on early detection, preventive vaccination, public awareness drives, screening programmes and interdepartmental coordination.
\n\u201cCervical cancer can be prevented,\u201d Mr Rehman told the officers. \u201cWith timely diagnosis, effective awareness campaigns and vaccination, we can save thousands of women.\u201d
\nHe assured the Health Department\u2019s full administrative, technical and operational support for the campaign, adding that all available resources would be utilised to achieve the public health objective.
\nThe minister urged DHOs and DEOs (Female) to take an active role in expanding awareness activities at the district level so that more women and adolescent girls could benefit from vaccination and screening services.
\nHe reaffirmed the provincial government\u2019s commitment to promoting public health and ensuring the provision of quality healthcare services for women across the province.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
