\nThe Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has constituted a high-level working group to address electricity-related problems in industrial zones and ensure a reliable power supply to facilitate industrial growth and investment in the province.
\nThe working group comprises elected public representatives, senior government officials and representatives of industrial consumers. It will prepare feasible and sustainable proposals aimed at meeting the power requirements of industrial areas and ensuring an uninterrupted electricity supply. A meeting of the working group and key stakeholders from the energy sector was held here under the chairmanship of Energy and Power Secretary Nisar Ahmed, said a handout.
\nThe meeting was attended by Syed Zahir Shah, chief executive of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Transmission and Grid System Company (KPT&GSC), Chief Executive of the Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organisation (PEDO) Engineer Nawarul Haq, Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) General Manager Habibur Rehman, chief executives of Hazara Electric Supply Company (Hazeco) and Tribal Electric Supply Company (Tesco), representatives of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development and Management Company (KPEZDMC), and officials of the Monitoring, Implementation and Regulatory Affairs Department (MIRAD).
\nThe participants discussed proposals relating to future electricity demand, power infrastructure in industrial zones, grid-related issues and the national Transmission System Expansion Plan (TSEP).
\nThe meeting also reviewed the proposed transfer of transmission-line assets from PEDO to KPT GSC. A tripartite agreement concerning the transfer and control of the assets among the relevant distribution companies was discussed, and it was decided that a roadmap would be prepared to finalise the agreement.
\nOfficials said the arrangement would help ensure sustainable power distribution and support the development of modern energy infrastructure required for industrial growth in the province.
\nMr Ahmed said strengthening and stabilising the province\u2019s basic energy infrastructure was a top priority of the provincial government for promoting industrial development.
\nHe stressed the need for close coordination and consensus among all stakeholders and assured participants that the Energy and Power and Industries departments would take up the province\u2019s concerns at the relevant higher-level forums.
\nThe meeting also discussed measures to improve coordination among energy-sector institutions and address the power requirements of industrial zones on a long-term basis.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
