More than 4,000 Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police officers and personnel will remain deployed across the federal capital for security and traffic duties on the 79th Independence Day, as Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi urged citizens to celebrate the national day with enthusiasm but without compromising law, safety or the rights of others.
\nAn ICT Police official told APP on Thursday that in his special Independence Day message, the IGP Rizvi extended heartfelt felicitations to Pakistanis at home and abroad, describing freedom as a great blessing of Allah Almighty that should be celebrated with national spirit and responsibility.
\nIGP Rizvi said ICT Police had formulated a comprehensive security plan to protect the lives and property of citizens, with special arrangements at entry and exit points, major roads, recreational places and sensitive locations across Islamabad.
\nHe said more than 4,000 police officers and personnel would perform security and traffic duties, while the force would remain on round-the-clock alert to ensure peaceful celebrations and facilitate citizens.
\nThe IGP Rizvi warned that aerial firing, one-wheeling, hooliganism, dangerous driving and other violations of law would invite indiscriminate action, stressing that Independence Day festivities should not become a source of danger or inconvenience for others.
\nCelebrate the occasion, but respect the law and the rights of others, he said, urging citizens to demonstrate responsibility and cooperate with police personnel deployed in the field.
\nIGP Rizvi said strict action would also be taken against anyone harassing families or women at parks and recreational spots, adding that special attention would be paid to the safety, dignity and convenience of families, women and children during the celebrations.
\nHe said every officer and official of Islamabad Police deployed on Independence Day would remain in the field to protect and facilitate citizens.
\nThe IGP Rizvi urged the public to immediately report any suspicious activity and cooperate with police to maintain a peaceful environment throughout the federal capital.
\nPaying tribute to the country, the nation and the armed forces, Rizvi said Pakistanis should renew their commitment on the historic occasion to contribute towards the country\u2019s peace, progress and prosperity.
\nHe said safeguarding freedom was a collective responsibility and called upon citizens to celebrate Independence Day in a manner reflecting patriotism, discipline and civic responsibility.
