\nLike elsewhere in the country 79th Independence Day, celebrated with zeal and patriotic fever in Khyber on Friday.
\nThe day was dawned with special prayers, offered for the solidarity and prosperity of the country.
\nA dignified flag-hoisting ceremony was held at the Deputy Commissioner\u2019s Office in Khyber on Friday to mark Pakistan\u2019s 79th Independence Day.
\nBesides DC, Khyber Shahid Ali as a chief guest, the ceremony was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Shahabuddin, Irshad Ali, other administrative officers and staff of the Deputy Commissioner\u2019s Office.
\nDC Khyber hoisted the national flag, the national anthem was played after the flag-hoisting while special prayers were offered for the security, development, peace and prosperity of the country.
\nA smart contingent of Khyber Police presented a salute on the occasion.
\nA cake was also cut to mark the 79th I- Day.
\nSpeaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Shahid Ali congratulated the entire nation, particularly the people, elders and maliks of all communities of Khyber, on Independence Day.
\nHe paid tribute to the brave personnel of the Pakistan Army, police and other institutions, as well as civilians, who had sacrificed their lives for the defense and security of the country.
\nIn an impressive gathering organized in the police line, Shakas, Jamrud,, District Police Officer, Khyber Waqar Ahmad hoisted the national flag and cut the cake.
\nA smart contingent of police presented a guard of honor.
\nSimilarly the 79th I- Day was also being celebrated with national enthusiasm and patriotic spirit across all tehsils of Khyber district.
\nIn Landi Kotal, a moot was initiated in tehsil compound where the Assistant Commissioner, Landi Kotal Inamullah Wazir along with tribal elders cut the cake to celebrate the 79th I-Day.
\nIn connection with the I-Day celebration, local Christian community members organized a rally from their colony to Landi Kotal Bazaar.
\nIt was led by former Member Provincial Assembly Wilson Wazir and a large number of Christians and locals while carrying national flags participated in it.
\nIn Jamrud tehsil, in impressive gathering was organized, attended by officials and citizens,
\nThey hoisted the national flag, cut the cake and took out a rally from the tehsil building to Bab-e-Khyber.
\nPrior to it, locals\u2019 hoisted Pakistani flags on their homes and trading centers in addition to important buildings were illuminated with national flag color lights to exhibit affection to their country.
\nSeparately, as part of I-Day celebrations, a monsoon plantation drive kicked off in Khyber.
\nUnder the auspices of forest department in sample gathering chief guest DC, Khyber Shahid Ali as chief guest planted a sapling to begin the campaign.
