ISLAMABAD
\nThe Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on Wednesday agreed to further strengthen their bilateral cooperation in the agriculture sector to enhance trade and investment and promote technology transfer, food security and livestock development.
\nThe discussion to this end was held at the Ministry of National Food Security and Research, Islamabad between H.E. Dr. Oumer Hussien Oba, Ambassador of Ethiopia, and the Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, H.E. Rana Tanveer Hussain.
\nThe meeting explored various avenues for increasing agricultural cooperation, including an agro-pact to institutionalize collaboration and enable the exchange of knowledge and expertise between the two countries\u2019 agricultural institutions.
\nThe Ambassador highlighted the potential of agricultural cooperation between Ethiopia and Pakistan, detailing the agrarian character of Ethiopia\u2019s economy and the priority attached to the sector by the Government of Ethiopia.
\nHe presented Ethiopia\u2019s Green Legacy Initiative as a holistic programme to promote sustainable development through agricultural growth, food security, climate resilience and a green economy.
\nEthiopia can share its expertise in the Green Legacy Initiative with Pakistan, he said, while inviting Pakistani agricultural entrepreneurs to explore investment opportunities in Ethiopia\u2019s agricultural sector.
\nThe Ambassador also briefed the Federal Minister on Ethiopia\u2019s preparations to host COP32, which will take place in Addis Ababa in 2027.
\nThe Federal Minister highlighted Pakistan\u2019s expertise in agricultural research, modern farming technologies, agricultural machinery, irrigation, livestock development and agro-processing, and expressed Pakistan\u2019s readiness to share its experience and technical know-how with Ethiopia.
\nHe noted that the two countries could significantly expand cooperation in crop productivity, seed development, climate-resilient agriculture and mechanization.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
