The Supreme Court of Pakistan and the National Information Technology Board (NITB) on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in cybersecurity, software development, digital services, information technology infrastructure and technical capacity-building.
\nThe MoU was signed at the Supreme Court by Registrar Suhail Muhammad Laghari on behalf of the Supreme Court and NITB Director General Faqirullah on behalf of NITB.
\nThe signing ceremony was witnessed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi and Supreme Court Judge Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb.
\nSecretary Ministry of IT and Telecommunication Zarrar Hasham Khan, NITB Chief Executive Officer Faisal Iqbal Ratyal, Director General National Cyber Emergency Response Team (NCERT) Haider Abbass, NITB Director Saif ur Rehman, Assistant Director (E-Office) Azhar Mahmood Janjua, members of the Supreme Court\u2019s IT team and other senior officers also attended the ceremony.
\nThe MoU provides a framework for developing secure, reliable and efficient digital systems, strengthening cybersecurity safeguards, improving software and IT infrastructure, and building technical capacity to support the Court\u2019s ongoing digital transformation.
\nSpeaking on the occasion, the Chief Justice emphasized that effective use of technology in the judiciary was essential to make court processes more accessible, efficient and responsive to the needs of litigants and the legal fraternity.
\nHe observed that technology should facilitate access to justice, improve service delivery and enable lawyers and litigants to engage with judicial institutions with greater ease and convenience.
\nThe Chief Justice also highlighted the critical importance of cybersecurity in safeguarding judicial data, digital platforms and institutional systems.
\nHe emphasized that robust cybersecurity measures would be pursued through close coordination with the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication, NITB and other relevant institutions to ensure that the judiciary\u2019s digital transformation remained secure, resilient and sustainable.
\nZarrar Hasham Khan assured the Supreme Court of full technical cooperation, particularly in cybersecurity, software development, digital services and IT infrastructure.
\nNITB also reaffirmed its commitment to providing the expertise and assistance required for secure, modern and efficient digital systems.
