\nKhyber Pakhtunkhwa\u2019s own-source revenue has reached a record Rs150.84 billion, the highest level in the province\u2019s history, Information and Science and Information Technology Minister Shafi Jan said on Wednesday.
\nThe provincial government has set an own-source revenue target of Rs182bn for the current financial year.
\nIn a statement, Mr Jan attributed the increase to improved revenue collection, better financial management and more efficient utilisation of available resources. He appreciated the performance of the Finance Department, Excise Department, KP Revenue Authority (KPRA), Information Department and other relevant departments for contributing to the increase in provincial revenues.
\nHe said the government was taking practical steps to expand revenue generated from indigenous resources in line with the vision of PTI founding chairman Imran Khan. \u201cUnder the leadership of Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, we are firmly committed to making the province financially self-reliant,\u201d Mr Jan said. He said increasing revenue, curbing unnecessary expenditure and enforcing financial discipline were among the government\u2019s key priorities. The minister said containing expenditures while increasing own-source revenue were central to the government\u2019s financial management strategy. He added that efforts were also being made to ensure transparency, accountability and efficient utilisation of public resources.
\nAccording to Mr Jan, a stronger own-source revenue base would provide the province with greater fiscal space for development projects, public welfare initiatives and delivery of essential services.
\nHe said the government\u2019s objective was not merely to increase revenue but to establish a sustainable, transparent and efficient financial management system.
\nMr Jan also congratulated Information Secretary Matiullah Khan and his team on the Information Department\u2019s improved performance in generating own-source revenue. He attributed the department\u2019s progress to administrative measures, focused management and sustained efforts by its officials.
\nThe minister reiterated that financial discipline, transparency and optimal utilisation of public resources remained key priorities, adding that concerted efforts were under way to further strengthen the province\u2019s resource base.
\nHe said Chief Minister Sohail Afridi had declared the current financial year a year of \u201cpeace, development and prosperity\u201d, and the provincial government was pursuing the objective through measures aimed at promoting peace, economic stability, financial sustainability and inclusive development across the province.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
