Saudi Arabia leads with $873m, followed by UAE, UK, and US remittances

\nPakistan received $3.66 billion in workers\u2019 remittances in August 2026, registering a 16.5% increase year-on-year, data from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) showed on Wednesday.
\nIn a post on X, Adviser to the Finance Minister Khurram Schehzad said remittances during the first two months of FY27 stood at $7.29 billion, up 14.7% compared with the same period last year.
\nAugust remittances also increased 0.7% month-on-month, according to the figures shared by the adviser.
\nSBP data showed that Saudi Arabia remained the largest source of remittances in August, contributing $873 million, followed by the United Arab Emirates with $750 million, the United Kingdom with $564 million, and the United States with $309 million. Schehzad said the latest inflows build on the record $41.6 billion in remittances received by Pakistan during FY26.
\nHe said sustained remittance flows remain an important pillar of the country\u2019s external account, supporting household incomes, foreign exchange liquidity, reserves and overall external-sector resilience.
\nAccording to data compiled by Topline Securities, inflows from Saudi Arabia reached $873 million in August 2026, up 19% year-on-year from $737 million in August 2025, though down 4% month-on-month from $914 million in July 2026.
\nMeanwhile, remittances from the UAE rose 17% year-on-year to $750 million (up from $643 million in August 2025) and showed a 2% month-on-month increase compared to $737 million recorded in July 2026.
\nThe data further reveals that during the first two months of FY27, cumulative inflows from Saudi Arabia totalled $1,787 million, reflecting a 15% growth compared to $1,560 million in 2MFY26. Remittances from the UAE during the first two months of the current fiscal year reached $1,487 million, registering a 14% increase over the $1,308 million received in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.
\nOther GCC countries contributed $327 million (up 8% YoY), and remaining global destinations added $338 million (up 16% YoY). Overall remittances for the first two months stood at $7.29 billion, marking a 15% year-on-year expansion across all major corridors.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
