Meena Khan inaugurates e-attendance system in govt-run degree colleges

\nThe Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Higher Education Department has introduced an e-attendance system in government degree colleges, enabling parents to remotely monitor their children\u2019s attendance and receive alerts about classes attended or missed.
\nProvincial minister for higher education Meena Khan Afridi inaugurated the system at Government Degree College Peshawar here on Thursday.
\nIn this connection, a memorandum of understanding was also signed between the HED and Zong Telecom for implementation of the e-attendance system.
\nThe ceremony was attended by representatives of Zong Telecom, higher education secretary, director higher education, teachers and students.
\nSpeaking at the ceremony, Mr Afridi said parents would receive SMS alerts regarding their children\u2019s attendance and would be able to access information about the classes attended or missed by a student.
\nHe said the initiative was part of the department\u2019s broader efforts to digitise the higher education system, improve transparency and strengthen attendance monitoring in colleges.
\n\u201cThe entire attendance record will be accessible to parents, including information about classes missed by a student,\u201d he said.
\nThe minister said an e-transfer system had already been introduced in the higher education department to facilitate the transfer process for teaching staff.
\nHe added that a university ranking system had also been introduced in the province to improve the performance and quality of higher education institutions.
\nMr Afridi said the government was introducing a hard-area allowance for teachers serving in remote and difficult areas. The initiative, he said, was aimed at encouraging teachers to work in far-flung areas and improving educational services there.
\nHe also announced the construction of a state-of-the-art hall at Government Degree College Peshawar.
\nThe minister said the government was committed to using technology to improve governance, transparency and accountability in the higher education sector.
\nMr Afridi said the department would continue introducing digital initiatives to improve the quality of education and strengthen coordination among educational institutions, students and parents.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
