\nKhyber Pakhtunkhwa Information, Science and Information Technology Minister Shafi Jan has directed the authorities concerned to convene an immediate meeting to review and finalise the Kohat Media Colony project, warning that further delays would not be tolerated.
\nThe minister issued the directive during a meeting with a delegation of journalists led by Kohat Press Club President Noor Muhammad Bangash. Regional Information Officer Irshad Afridi was also present.
\nThe meeting reviewed progress on the proposed Media Colony and discussed issues confronting the local journalist community, including the annual grant for the press club and other matters concerning media workers.
\nThe delegation briefed the minister on the current status of the Media Colony project and sought effective government measures to address the problems faced by journalists in Kohat.
\nMr Jan directed the relevant officials to hold an immediate meeting, review all outstanding issues and accelerate work on the project.
\n\u201cUnnecessary delays in projects concerning journalists are not appropriate, and further delay will not be acceptable,\u201d he said.
\nThe minister described the media as an important pillar of the state and said journalists played a vital role in highlighting public issues, strengthening communication between the government and citizens, and bringing matters of public interest to the forefront.
\nHe assured the delegation that the government would take necessary steps in coordination with the relevant departments to resolve the legitimate concerns of Kohat journalists, particularly those related to the Media Colony and annual grant.
