{"id":62275,"date":"2019-05-03T13:47:01","date_gmt":"2019-05-03T03:47:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/?p=62275"},"modified":"2019-05-03T13:47:01","modified_gmt":"2019-05-03T03:47:01","slug":"police-baton-charge-nurses-protesting-for-salary-raise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/police-baton-charge-nurses-protesting-for-salary-raise\/","title":{"rendered":"Police baton charge nurses protesting for salary raise"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>INP<br \/>\nKARACHI\/LAHORE\/PESHAWAR<br \/>\nPolice on Thursday baton charged nurses who were protesting outside the Karachi Press Club for increase in salaries and allowances.<br \/>\nAccording to details, the officers also manhandled the protesters and arrested some of them.<br \/>\nPatients suffered at the out-patient departments (OPDs) of all government-run hospitals in Punjab on Thursday as young doctors went on strike against the government\u2019s plans to privatise public health facilities.<br \/>\nParamedical staff and nurses shut down the OPDs of public hospitals in all major cities, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, Rahim Yar Khan, Sargodha, and Faisalabad, to protest the proposed privatisation of the hospitals.<br \/>\nEnraged at the closure of the OPDs of public hospitals in Rawalpindi, patients staged a protest against the striking doctors.<br \/>\nThe Young Doctors Association (YDA) said it won\u2019t allow the government to privatise government hospitals and vowed to continue strike until their demands are not met.<br \/>\nMeanwhile, the doctors continued their strike for a second straight day on Thursday at all government hospitals in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa against the proposed privatisation.<br \/>\nThe protesting doctors forcefully closed the OPDs of Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar and forced the doctors performing their duties to go out of the wards to take part in the protest.<br \/>\nThe doctors also took out a rally and threatened to close all health services, including emergency wards, if any action is taken against the protesting doctors.<br \/>\nThe workers of Pakistan Medical Association and para-medical staff were also among the protesters<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>INP KARACHI\/LAHORE\/PESHAWAR Police on Thursday baton charged nurses who were protesting outside the Karachi Press Club for increase in salaries and allowances.
